user mode linux and lenny

Hi,

i wanted to install user mode linux on debian lenny. I
installed a fresh lenny and uml and got the following
errors when booting the uml guest:

getmaster - no usable host pty devices
Failed to open console 1, err = -2
getmaster - no usable host pty devices
Failed to open console 2, err = -2
getmaster - no usable host pty devices
Failed to open console 3, err = -2
getmaster - no usable host pty devices
Failed to open console 4, err = -2
getmaster - no usable host pty devices
Failed to open console 5, err = -2
getmaster - no usable host pty devices
Failed to open console 6, err = -2

These errors are coming from the getty-processes
configured in the default inittab.

If i log into the guest i can do the following:
guest> ls -l /dev/tty1
crw-rw---- 1 root root 4, 1 Nov 24 07:21 /dev/tty1
guest> cat /dev/tty1
cat: /dev/tty1: No such file or directory

So the ttys are there but doesn't work.

If i use an older 2.6.18 kernel (i first encountered this
error when i tried an upgrade from etch to lenny) instead
of the 2.6.26 everything works fine.

Can someone help me?

Regards

Matthias
