BIOS will shutdown the system.

You can fry the micro, sir.

You cannot have a PIII without fan and keep it so all day long. You can 
leave the fan for testing purposes and put it back again.

Although PIII is of those exposing "low wattage" (14.5W) and high TCase
(82℃), Intel always recommends it use with the fan. If it is noisy, you 
better change it.
