I ran the command on the machine and got this result:

Multimedia audio controller: Silicon Integrated Circuits [SiS] AC'97
Sound Controller (rev a0)

PS:  I have not tried SuSE on any of the other machines, but I do have a 
live CD of 11.3.  Perhaps I'll give that a try and see what happens.
