badblocks: No such file or directory while trying to determine device size
Hi,
Any one can explain the following?
tdev=sdb5
$ badblocks -p 99 -c 90000 -wv /dev/$tdev
badblocks: No such file or directory while trying to determine device size
$ fdisk -l /dev/sdb
Disk /dev/sdb: 1500.3 GB, 1500301910016 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 182401 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x00000000
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sdb1 1 7649 61440592 7 HPFS/NTFS
/dev/sdb2 7650 11474 30724312+ 83 Linux
/dev/sdb3 11475 182401 1372971127+ 5 Extended
/dev/sdb5 11475 182401 1372971127 83 Linux
$ sfdisk -V /dev/sdb
Warning: no primary partition is marked bootable (active)
This does not matter for LILO, but the DOS MBR will not boot this disk.
/dev/sdb: OK
PS, was doing
tdev=sdb and/or tdev=sdb1, and they both went well.
