You should look -definitely- at Xorg log (/var/log/Xorg.0.log). Better
yet, upload its whole content to an online service and put a link here so
we can take a look into it. The more people sees the log, the more chance
to get solved the problem :-)
Being with lenny, I guess you are loading "nv" driver ¿right? You could
also try with the nvidia closed one (it is very easy to install from "/
non-free" repo). More information here:
