Well yes, its the connection from another machine
that is blocked ... but not according to this.
root@dalton:~# cat /etc/shorewall/policy | grep vpn

vpn all ACCEPT
root@dalton:~# cat /etc/inetd.conf | grep telnetd
telnet stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/tcpd /usr/sbin/in.tel

Seems I need to learn how to examine the iptables
directly and learn more about pam.
