In aptitude try:

Actions -> Cancel Pending Actions
update (press u)
prepare full-upgrade (press Shift-u)

and see if aptitude wants to upgrade any packages. Comand-line 
equivalent would be:

# aptitude keep-all
# aptitude update
# aptitude full-upgrade

Aptitude might remember some actions that were never performed.
