Hi Clive!
It seems like usblp is loading every time with this new kernel (in the upgrade I'm using the 2.6.26-2-amd64 kernel that was upgraded instead of the older one I "rolled" myself.... seems so much better with just about anything anyway!).
I'll try putting usblp in /etc/modules anyway to see if this matters.

Good thinking... I have been trying every combination of ehci_hcd,uhci_hcd,and ohci_hcd to see if I can shake this thing up! I discovered that I don't need ehci_hcd at all, that the printer will work with EITHER ohci_hcd or uhci_hcd, but in both/either cases I have to load (or reload) the module AFTER the printer is on... or just boot with the printer on... but neither case is a solution!
Thanks everyone for any wisdom or advice. Why would USB go wacky on an upgrade to Lenny I don't know, but that's what's going on here! (Actually not even "usb" but just the USB printers. My USB plug-in drives all work fine no matter what!)
