I think you need to think abit more about it, with hardware raid, the
disk is present to the bios as a single disk. With software raid it is
not.

(if memory serves me correctly), lilo and gurb use int13 to load the
kernel and pass of to it. int13 has no idea of raid0 striping ...

plus it seems sort of silly to have /boot on a stripe raid0, loose 1
disk and it all goes
