PPP / ADSL / demand / GUI prompt question

DHCP = username and password _not_ required
DHCP has no concept of security credentials

PPPoE = username and password _required_
PPPoE is all about security credentials

The uneducated may unknowingly assume these two terms refer to the same
thing (they don't), as one important result of both is a dynamically
assigned IP address.  However, the architecture of how each of these
works is quite different.
