Running "grub-mkdevicemap" as root should create a valid device.map
file. (If you do not have a floppy drive in this computer, use
"grub-mkdevicemap -n" to avoid having a spurious entry for a floppy
drive in the file.) After that, run "aptitude install -f" to finish the
installation of linux-image-2.6.26-1-amd64.

Before you try this, copy the current /boot/grub/device.map. If the
above procedure does not work for you, post the contents of the new and
old device.map file, as well as the output of the "mount" command.
