Current x86_64 CPUs don't support 64bits of memory: They "merely"
support 48 bits of it. Which means that if you want more than 256TB, of
memory, you'll have to get yourself a better CPU (and I'm ignoring minor
technicalities of chipset support).

Thus I suspect your laptop won't support 16EB with nither OS.
