Well I believe in code much more than in non-native wordings.
Just look at it, cut-n-pasted from the OP, slightly indented by me:

  #crontab -e
  30 23 * * * cp ~www/db_backup/cdr/cdrFromMSC* /tmp

Even in these 2 innocent lines I see >5 points I'd do differently
when assigned the job to backup some files every night at
23:30 local time.

It's obvious OP's backups disappear in the great void after reboot,
<cyn>replacing /tmp with /dev/null would yield the same result more
efficiently sparing a reboot.</cyn>.

btw: did you notice OP never showing up in this little subthread,
     he seems to prefer personal support via private email.
