Thanks for your response. I have it installed, but it doesn't show up
in the Konsole appearance configuration. All that shows are:

I used to think people who kept complaining about fonts on the lists
were just full of it, but now my eyes are not what they used to be and

Yeah - maybe it's fixed in later versions - are you running Sid? Some
further investigation shows it happens when I copy something that's
longer than one page in konsole, the added space is one the lines that
were off-page by the time I reached the end of the section I selected.
But like I said earlier, it's erratic. Trying it now, I can't get it
to add more than one character space, where earlier it added a good 50
or so characters' worth of space, so there's probably another factor.
