  That won't do what you think.  It only shows packages that conflict
with <package-name>; if the package is being removed because it's not
used any more or because aptitude thinks its queued state is "remove",
it won't help.

  I don't really understand what happened to the OP, but it sounds like
maybe there are some conflicting selection states or unused packages,
in which case he wants "aptitude keep-all".
