If you have the resources (i.e., disk space, etc.) install both. No need to decide unless you must. Some applications (scripts) expect wget, others like curl. I would say curl is more of a requirement, wget is more optional. But that is in my experience, others might have other experiences.
(This point of view is from a non-technical standpoint. Looking forward to reading what others have to say.)
