Maybe they do ... I don't like gnome; I switched back to startx and
the only thing that's missing is the panel. And I'm using 6GB less
memory now. But KDE is cute ...

Hm, isn't there a panel that doesn't have anything to do with gnome or
kde? Just a panel? A panel that has a clock and can show a calender
when you click on the clock? That was the most useful thing of the
panel ... or maybe just a clock like that?
