Good day. I just have installed Debian 5.01 on Athlon 1.6 computer with an old sound card. When I try to play a sound file w/ mplayer - I see how the time digits are changing but hear no sound. I tried to run alsamixer - it shows all the channels of the card and set everyone to max - still no sound. I have added the user to audio group, even tried to play under root - the very same result. How I can investigate the culprit? Thank You for Your time.
