Tried that but it didn't seem to work. I finally found a solution on an ubuntu
forum, seems a bit dirty to but it works.
1. Add a groups usbfs and add the user to that group
2. Add the following line to fstab
none /proc/bus/usb usbfs devgid=1001,devmode=664 0 0
where 1001 is the gid of usbfs
