$(ARCH)

I don't understand "distribution may also contain a variable, $(ARCH)
which expands".  (In sources.list(5) man page.)

Does this mean $(ARCH) is predefined and you just have to include
"$(ARCH)" in the distribution string, or do you have to define it
earlier in the file, or somewhere?
