Hi,

if the package is bootsplash related, it probably has changed some
options in your grub menu, triggering "update-grub". So I would start by
looking into /boot/grub/menu.lst .

Regarding the boot process, where does it stop ? After the grub menu,
before ?

What is the package ? Splashy, grub-splashimages... From Debian or not ?

Tom
