The claim is stronger than that.  It is that there are backdoors in the
algorithms: weaknesses that only NSA knows how to exploit.  I find this
extremely unlikely for several obvious reasons.

Mainly that lots of academic mathematicians have looked at it and at least one of them is "anti-American" enough to squeal like a stuck pig...
