Hello!

I am doing my own tests with Ext4. It has better performance than ext3 FS. On some tests that I have done, I have 40 MB/s more than the same hardware with ext3 FS. Have you seen the same ?

what are you using to test ?
dd writing big file from /dev/zero and ddt that is an utility from www.coraid.com. This is the best test for Ext4, because the change in allocate of space.

I using some 512 MB size file, about 70 files, copy with cp. But I have no conclusion about that.
Now I am using bonnie++, it is the results:

EXT3

EXT4
Delete files in random order...done.

You could have your conclusion about this result. The machine is 32 GB RAM and 8 RAID 5 SAS hd. Have you any better idea to test ? Have you any idea about RAID configuration to improve performance?
