Yes, "--configure" is correct. This is my error. "--configure" is one
of the actions the dpkg command requires in order to run. In my
original post to the list I confused "dpkg --configure" with
"dpkg-reconfigure", which is of course a separate command. In my
attempt to get the interrupted aptitude command to be resolved I ran
"dpkg --configure -a". Sorry.
