Sid may be recognising all drives (sata and pata) as sd*. Check dmesg
for what all drives it finds. There have been many threads on here
about drive name remapping. LVM looks for header (footer?) info on all
drives regardless of names and is therefore immune to name remapping.

Look in /dev/disk/ and its subdirectories.

Also check out /sys/block, /proc/scsi/scsi, and /proc/ide/

In short, your drives may be there, just under a different name.

Doug.
