just install all 3945-related packages (kernel module, regulatory 
daemon, firmware, ...) from debian repositories, the card then works 
flawlessly.

if you want to install debian using this card, however, this might be a 
problem. i think that the installation kernels do not have the relevant 
module included...

my notebook has older reader (Ricoh R5C822) which works without problems 
- i unfortunately don't know the status of the newer one in debian.
