To me, this feels like a memory problem. Could you have bad RAM?
Is this a system that is working otherwise (that is, you can boot
it fine without a CD in the drive) and you're just having trouble
booting the liveCDs?
My thinking here is that Knoppix always works for me unless I
have a system with bad RAM.
Also, both distros START booting which means your system is
booting off of the CD and the distro is starting to load.
