My imagination tells me that in order to find program 'whatever', I'll
first try:
apt-cache search whatever
$ apt-cache search links2
links2 - Web browser running in both graphics and text mode
$ apt-cache search debuild
devscripts - Scripts to make the life of a Debian Package maintainer easier
devscripts-el - Emacs wrappers for the commands in devscripts
pbuilder - personal package builder for Debian packages
