Sorry. I had hoped that we would see something like:
NFORCE2: IDE controller (0x10de:0x0065 rev 0xa2) at PCI slot 0000:00:09.0
ide0: BM-DMA at 0xf000-0xf007, BIOS settings: hda:DMA, hdb:DMA
(but, presumably, without the 'DMA')
and could have gone from there.
I think you need someone who knows a bit more about DMA.
Just a thought - it's not a dodgy IDE cable?
