I ran this :
dpkg -l | grep gnome | cut -c4-34
and got 79 packages, none of which look like anything I ever use.. Of course
the dependencies ( gimp?) might be programs that i do use..
thanks, I might try that.
at least I can run it and see what it comes up with, I can always "N" and
cancel.
