With video, I've found that opengl is broken. On the other hand xv
works now (but xv video scaling is horrible: there's no smoothing of
low res video).

Yes, I've seen some error message related of diversion of libGL while
installing fglrx-driver.

I had to:
- de-install fglrx-driver
- remove all libGL diversion (with dpkg-divert)
- re-install fglrx-driver
