Re: Help Getting Connected to Internet
Next you need to get a mirrors list built and working. I think running
dselect and making choices with that software package may help you set up
the right sources.list in /etc/apt. Once that's done you will want to run
aptitude update then aptitude dist-upgrade then aptitude install apt-file
then run apt-file update. At that point you can run apt-file search gcc
for example and you want to do an aptitude install build-essential. I
haven't checked this but there may be a djgpp virtual package. Virtual
packages are things you summon to cause the rest of their family to come
join them on your machine. For sure you want to aptitude install
debian-reference and maybe lynx though several other browsers exist lynx
will work in text and be able to let you read the debian-reference
package. The debian-reference is started by typing its name at the
command prompt and has lots of useful information in it. The
debian-reference package will find your browser and use it to run.
