Perhaps '/etc/init.d/networking restart', but I'm no expert.

On this desktop, I also have this card...  Ethernet controller: Realtek
Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+ (rev 10)

Yes, 8139too is the module used for this card, but I also have the
8139cp loaded somehow, so this is not the problem.

You are fine up to here; this is what mine looks like.  I have nothing
following this line.  "link up" of course says OK to here, connection
established.

What is NETDEV WATCHDOG?  Something appears to interfere here AFTER your
link is up and running.

Searching for 'kernel: NETDEV WATCHDOG: eth0:' gives plenty of leads for
research if you don't get more help here.
