Either I'm a Unix wizard, or it's really pathetically simple to use.

  $ mtr www.cox.net

  $ mtr -r www.cox.net

  $ mtr -n www.cox.net

  $ mtr 70.168.47.91

There's more, but that'll do 99.5% of what you'll ever need it to do
for you.
