I set up etch on a new pc and gkrellm can't find any CPU or mobo monitors for temperature monitoring. My other older system uses mbmon and hdmon. Is this out of date now?

When I start mbmon on the new box it complains: Starting motherboard sensor monitoring daemon: No Hardware Monitor found!!

I've got sysfs sensors on the machine although it's not a daemon and it's not running on my old machine, so I'm wondering if there's something wrong with that.

That's been in the list several times:
install lm-sensors and run sensors-detect on a VT.

Thanks, Hugo. Guess I used the wrong search terms - I think my synapses had started cutting out last night.

I have done that now and the CPU temp is available. However mbmon is still complaining about the same thing as above. I'm tempted to ignore it although it seems strange.

Interesting, my diary-blog has that I looked at mbmon on 11/26/2004 but not that I ever ran it.

However now installing it on Sid and running it and then sensors I get:

which shows,at least as the temp is concerned that mbmon gets temp3, the ambient temperature, but not temp1, the mobo temperature, or temp2, the CPU temperature.

The mobo is en EP-8VTAI, which I would not get anymore.

As to why you'd have to get mbmon's source and dig it out, I guess.
