Also, a more general question: Did you follow the
upgrade guide (Etch's
release notes) when you went from Sarge to Etch?


I followed the upgrade guide pretty well, except that
not libfam0c102 is installed, but libgamin0 due to the
installation of XFCE4.

The notebook is running pretty well with the default
kernel-image-2.6-386 (2.6.18+6)
