I'd be very happy to be proved mistaken on this. okay, no you're right... the booting is fine so long as you have an mbr... its the mbr that's the trick. so to the OP, you have to get yourself into a bootloader somehow and unless you actually install the bootloader onto each disk, then no, you can't just boot up any one disk from a raid1 array. There are other ways to get to a bootloader though: a grub floppy or cd for example, or you can just manually install grub to each drive. thanks mike! A
