So today I tried k-meleon on my XP laptop. It's like lightning. Subjectively it's 2-3 times faster than FireFox. All web searches indicate that the closest equivalents under Linux are Galeon and Epiphany. Both are enormously slower than k-meleon, and neither has the key feature of supporting FF addons.
