Actually, no, but this reply is being sent from an etch box with the
same kernel and same 8139too chip/driver that you report (but different
card).

If I can help by posting any output from this box, let me know.

I'm no expert at all, but notice that the kernels apparently report ACPI
differently, and since you have a timing issue, you could try what is
suggested:

PCI: If a device doesn't work, try "pci=routeirq".  If it helps, post a
report

Also, this morning there is yet another security kernel update;  DSA
1289-1 which brings the kernel to 2.6.18.dfsg.1-12etch2.  So, perhaps
continue testing with that.  (I have not yet upgraded to it.)
