Re: upgrade from 3.1 to 4.0

I use a 2.6 kernel.
"2.6.8-3-386  i686 GNU/Linux "

When a try aptitude update/apt-get update, I have this error:
" Couldn't stat source package list ftp://ftp.debian.org stable/main Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/ftp.debian.org_debian_dists_stable_main_binary-i386_Packages) - stat (2 No such file or directory
You may want to update the package lists to correct these missing files "

I take a look into my /var/lib/apt/list and I don't found that file. It's missing some file. Why ?

Thanks,
Adriana Gologaneanu.

Besides the connection problem, you should really take a look into the
release notes: *aptitude* is the recommended tool for doing the upgrade
and it should not be tried in one step, especially if you still use a
2.4 kernel.
