Did you try to download a snapshot? http://snaps.php.net/
New tarballs are available every 3h, it's worth trying. I am on amd64 too for my production server (etch of course) and an libxml2 compile issue with 5.2 got solved thanks to a snapshot.

You mean to compile PHP?
I really don't want to move away from Stable packages on a Production Server :-(
any other Option?

Thankyou so much for the response :-)

Kind Regards
