Why not asking <pgsql-general@postgresql.org>?

I have created my own 8.2 Debian packages since I need "table
partitioning" and have not a singel problem uninstalling it...

Maybe aou should read the developers-reference and maint-guide
how to build Debian-Packages...

Note: You can even create Debian-packages which install into
      /opt or /usr/local/... while ignoring lintian/linda warnings.
