Try growisofs -dvd-compat -Z /dev/hdc=./dvd

If not try:-

growisofs -dvd-compat -overburn -Z /dev/hdc=./dvd

If not try:-

growisofs -speed=2 -dvd-compat -Z /dev/hdc=./dvd


Or whatever speed works for your DVD burner.
