So you have had access in the past? Is the second drive, the one
containing your Debian system, from another computer and you are trying
to access it on this machine?

Don't forget to check that your /etc/apt/sources.lst entries point to
etch and not testing, otherwise you may end up with a broken system once
etch goes stable.
