They do "less".  I.e., there aren't as many layers of complexity
between human and hard disk.

Consultants can charge more for a Unix-Windows conversion.  (That
includes "advertising charge-backs" from MSFT.  And then there's the
repeat repair business generated by the fragile system he just
installed.
