Some years back I had a similar issue with a particular version of the
nvidia drivers. If you are using proprietary video drivers (e.g. nvidia or
ati), you might check to see if there is a newer or even older version
available that does not cause the same problem. If you aren't using
proprietary drivers, I got nothing.
