I am following instructions for Debian NVIDIA proprietary display driver installation through APT here: http://wiki.serios.net/wiki/Debian_NVIDIA_proprietary_display_driver_installation_through_APT

I get to the point of this command:
make-kpkg modules_image
and i get this message:
The modules_* targets should be called from a fully configured source tree, and one where at least the make-kpkg debian has been run.

What do I do?

Use module-assistant (apt-get install) then as root/sudo

m-a prepare
m-a a-i nvidia
modprobe nvidia

make sure you have non-free in sources list.
