welcome to Debian!
the sticking point is probably the sata hard drive that is not handled
propertly. Its one of the hardware bits that is new in the debian world.
There is a way to get it working but you may need to get a more recent
version than sarge from the debian.org website --- the testing
distribution netinstall probably. But you also maybe able to find the
info on google to make the debian-installer detect the sata drive. You
may also want to go on irc to irc.debian.org and go to #debian for some
more realtime help.

ps. if you have an older computer around that does not have sata, you'd
be able to install the OS easier on that. So if you have such a machine,
use that untill you get this issue resolved.
