I'm sorry that I didn't make clear enough
that I did NOT have any network problem. There really was
only the eth0 message on the console I wanted to get
rid of. It messed up the login prompt like this:
dwarf login: eth0: flipped to 10baseT
I assume the eth0 message is normal (not an error, not a warning)
with my network card. Because the network works.

I did put the "kernel.printk = 4 4 1 7" line into /etc/sysctl.conf
and it does the job. There's no more "eth0: flipped to 10baseT" message
messing up the login prompt. Thanks again, Florian.
