artsd is the soundaemon for kde. Is normal in kde. esd is the
soundaemon for gnome. Should not be used kde. Why it is running with
kde, i don't know.

If you do so you rhythmbox and other apps depending of gstreamer will
not work.

Look at gstreamer as multimedia codecs.
For example there is a totem-gstreamer that uses gstreamer for the
codecs and there is a totem-xine that uses the w32codecs for the codecs.
